Newark

Police in Newark announced the arrest of Mr. Marquis Hatcher, 27, of Newark, also known as Toyon Hatcher, on charges of three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in a shooting that occurred Friday.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, shortly before 7:45 p.m., reports of shots fired sent police to the 900 block of Bergen Street where they found a man and woman suffering gunshot injuries.

Director Ambrose said the pair were transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
