Police in Newark took two suspects into custody and charged them with receiving stolen property after leading them on a pursuit in the city on Sunday.
Newark Police said at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers patrolling in the area of Hawthorne Avenue and Wolcott Terrace observed a gray 2021 BMW M55, reported stolen out of Kearny.
According to police, upon becoming aware of police presence, the vehicle's four occupants bailed from the car and fled southbound on Wolcott Terrace.
One suspect returned to the stolen vehicle, causing it to roll in reverse.
Police said that the vehicle's driver-side door subsequently struck an officer, resulting in minor scrapes and complaints of pain.
The officer was transported to University Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
According to police officials, two suspects have been apprehended.
This incident remains under investigation.
