A 34-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Newark on Saturday, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Tyree N. Peterson, 34, of Newark. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Peterson was hit near the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Thomas Street.
Officials said the driver remained at the scene and spoke with police. No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
Peterson’s family told ABC-7 that large piles of snow blocking the intersection may have contributed to the deadly crash, limiting visibility at the location.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the collision.
