UPDATE: Newark North Ward Stabbing Incident Leads to Arrest of East Orange Man

Newark Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the city's North Ward on Tuesday, leaving one man injured and another under arrest.AdThe violent altercation took place at approximately 1:51 p.m. on the 100 block of Broad Street following a verbal dispute that escalated dramatically.

Newark Police officials said upon receiving a distress call about the incident, police officers swiftly responded to the scene. They found the victim suffering from stab wounds incurred during the confrontation.

Emergency services quickly transported the injured man to University Hospital, where he is currently receiving care and is reportedly in stable condition.

In a prompt and coordinated effort, police say cops managed to locate the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Mr. Jesse Lee Simmons of East Orange.AdPolice said Simmons was found in the 200 block of Broadway and arrested without further incident. He is now facing serious charges, including aggravated assault and weapon possession.

The Newark Police Department is continuing to look into the circumstances that led to this violent encounter.
