Upon arrival, police found a severely injured Mr. Tyrone Atkinson, 59, of Newark, lying on the ground, suffering injuries after a car struck him at the intersection and another vehicle rolled over him.

Atkinson was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and then pronounced dead around 3:37 a.m. today.

According to a preliminary investigation at the scene, the vehicle that struck Atkinson sped from the scene, but the car that rolled over him stayed and cooperated with authorities.

Atkinson's family said they would appreciate it if anyone would provide information on the driver that fled the scene. Atkinson
