UPDATE: Newark Man Charged With Stabbing Tennesee Woman to Death Inside Riviera Hotel

Essex County authorities announced today that Mr. Nasier McCray, 23, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Ms. Jessica Hilton, 32, who was fatally stabbed on July 7 at the Riviera Hotel on Clinton Avenue in Newark, where she lived.

She is originally from Tennessee Police said.

Homicide

Officials charged McCray with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

He is currently being housed at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark. 

Officials would not say if domestic violence is the motive or if Ms. Hilton was a random victim of Newark violence at this time. 

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is handling the investigation.

McCray is presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
