UPDATE: Late Night Gunfire Kills 17-Year-Old Boy at Newark House Party

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jaheem White of Newark.

Police say White was fatally shot at a house party in the 300 block of Schley Street last night.

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:17 p.m.

According to police the preliminary investigation indicates that police were called to the home on a report of a shooting in progress.

When they arrived, they discovered the victim in the home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

White was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m. police said
