Essex County authorities announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal shooting.
Police said approximately 3:43 pm on Friday, May 21, Mr. Charles Pridgen, Jr., 28, of Newark was fatally shot in the 100 block of Blum Street in the city of Newark.
He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 pm.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
