UPDATE: New Brunswick Man Shot, Killed Identified

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department said today that a city man has died after being shot last night.

Hakim Williams, 31, of Howard Street in New Brunswick, was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds on August 18th at approximately 11:03 pm.

Detective Kenneth Abode of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Craig Marchak of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation after police were alerted to the shooting by a 911 call from an area resident who reported hearing the gunshots.

Police arrived to find the victim deceased inside his car on Fulton Street.

An autopsy is pending today by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is active and continuing.
