UPDATE: Nearly Two Dozen Displaced in Raging Newark North Ward Building Fire

The American Red Cross stepped in to assist four families, with a total of 19 individuals, following a severe house fire that broke out in Newark's North Ward on Sunday night.NinosThe incident happened at approximately 11:30 p.m. at 88 Broad Street, where firefighters faced a challenging situation with flames engulfing a two-story building.

Upon arrival, the fire crews quickly went to work, deploying multiple water lines to combat the rapidly spreading fire shooting from windows that threatened to engulf adjacent structures.

During the fire, a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after she was reportedly forced to jump from the second-floor window to escape the intense flames.

The firefighting teams worked diligently and managed to bring the inferno under control within an hour.

As they quelled the flames, the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

The American Red Cross provided crucial assistance to the affected families. They offered temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate necessities to help these individuals begin the process of recovery and rebuilding.
