UPDATE: Critical Injuries Reported in Edison Multi-Vehicle Crash

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department announced today that police are investigating a multiple vehicle crash in which one person was critically injured and many others received minor injuries in Edison Township.

 

Officials say the investigation began after police were dispatched to the scene of the crash involving 8 cars and a tractor trailer on Route 1 and Prince Street at 5:17 p.m. on August 22nd.

 

The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a 2016 Volvo tractor trailer failed to stop for a red light and struck multiple vehicles from behind.

 

According to authorities, one party in a car suffered a serious injury and was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. Many other drivers involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

 

The investigation is active and is continuing.
