Newark firefighters rushed to the scene of a raging fire in the city's East Ward on Wednesday afternoon, where multiple cars were engulfed in flames.

The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. in the 400 block of Avenue P.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a harrowing scene: several vehicles were fully involved in the blaze, with the fire rapidly spreading to nearby cars.

Residents around the region noticed dark plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, visible from several miles away.

Firefighters swiftly deployed multiple hoses to combat the inferno, which posed a significant challenge due to the intensity of the fire.

The blaze was brought under control in under a half hour, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Newark fire officials.
