UPDATE: Mother Uncooperative After Two Children Shot in Irvington: Police

Irvington Township Police are investigating shots fired incident that injured children sitting in a vehicle with their mother in a section of the Township Saturday. 

RLS Media first brought information to its exclusive members after gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 176 Eastern Parkway just before 11:15 p.m. 

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they found two juveniles, ages 7 and 10, suffering non-life-threatening wounds to their legs as a result of a drive-by shooting.  

RLS Media learned that the victims were sitting in a car with their mother at the time of the incident. The mother did not suffer any injuries. 

Prior to the incident, Irvington Police said the mother reported hearing gunshots after a dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows drove past.

At some point during the investigation, police said the mother of the victims became uncooperative and declined to give the detectives a statement regarding this incident.

Residents in the area told RLS Media that they had noticed stepped-up patrol and police enforcement in the neighborhood and were surprised to see police activity in the community on Saturday. 

Irvington Township Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
