UPDATE: Mother Identifies 10-Year-Old Girl Seriously injured in Overnight Jersey City Shooting That Killed Man

The mother of a 10-year-old girl who was found severely injured after being caught in a hail of gunfire on a Jersey City Street has released her identity.

According to reports, the mother identified the girl as 10-year-old Rayana Phillips and said she was shot while sitting in back seat of car Ocean and Van Nostrand avenues just after 10 p.m.

Multiple rounds of gunfire sent police to the area where officers found a 19-year-old male victim dead, and Philips injured at that location.

EMS rushed Philips to Jersey City Medical Center where she underwent surgery to remove her colon after a bullet entered her back the mother said.

Police took two male suspects into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The suspects have not been officially charged by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office at this time.

Police recovered a weapon the scene police said.

Philips is expected to make a full recovery according to her mother.
