UPDATE: Middlesex Prosecutor Search for Hit-and-Run Driver of Vehicle That Fatally Struck New Brunswick Man

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department said police are investigating a fatal hit and run which took place on Livingston Avenue early this morning.

Officials identified the deceased pedestrian as Mr. Anthony Cruz-Medina, 22, of New Brunswick who was pronounced dead at the scene following the fatality which occurred on Livingston Avenue near Baldwin Street at approximately 12:40 am. according to the prosecutor's office.

Officials say while results of an autopsy are pending with the Medical Examiner’s Office, it has been preliminarily determined that the victim sustained severe head and leg injuries when he was struck by a vehicle.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Sean Cahill of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

A preliminary investigation determined that the victim was struck in the roadway by a vehicle traveling south on Livingston Avenue in the direction of North Brunswick.

Police were alerted when a 911 call was received regarding a male body in the roadway.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
