UPDATE: Man Wanted for Robbing Newark Family Dollar Store

Police in Newark seeks the public’s help in identifying a suspect who is wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred on Thursday.

According to a statement released by Newark police officials, the incident happened just before 9 a.m., where the suspect entered Family Dollar, located at 62 Broadway.

Police say the suspect filled a red shopping basket with $500.00 worth of merchandise and fled the store, heading southbound on Broadway and then west onto Crane Street with the shopping basket in hand.

According to police, the suspect is described as 6-ft. tall and 180 lbs. with a slight beard.

Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and a black skull cap.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, we seek the public’s help in quickly identifying him as part of this investigation.
