UPDATE: Man Wanted for Newark South Ward Shooting

Newark Police seeks the public’s help in locating Mr. Almalik Ward, 42, of Newark, who is wanted for an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Wednesday.

Police say at approximately 12:37 p.m., a man was struck by gunfire near a home in the 100 block of Edmunds Place.

The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment according to police.

The Newark Major Crimes Shooting Team detectives investigating this shooting developed sufficient evidence to secure a warrant for Ward’s arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault and the Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

While police are actively searching for Ward, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from Newark streets.
