UPDATE: Man Struck, Killed by Star Ledger News Paper Delivery Truck in Livingston

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Livingston Police Chief Craig Handschuch announced today that the Livingston Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigation a motor vehicle incident that resulted in a death.

Police said at pproximately 1 a.m. today in the area of South Orange Avenue just west of JFK Parkway, a Star Ledger delivery truck hit a pedestrian.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified. The preliminary investigation indicates he appears to be a middle-age Hispanic male.

EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The truck driver, whose credentials were in order, remained at the scene, rendered assistance and called for help authorities said.

There are no criminal charges at this time.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
