UPDATE: Man Stabs Female Multiple Times in South Plainfield

Middlesex County authorities announced today that a man has been arrested and charged for the stabbing of a female who was known to him.

Authorities said Mr. Daniel Ortega, 32, of South Plainfield has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

According to authorities, at approximately 1:21 a.m. today, police responded to a residence on Clinton Avenue following the report of an assault.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a female victim, 27, who had sustained multiple stab wounds.

An investigation by Detective Joseph Glowacki of the South Plainfield Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Ortega stabbed the victim inside of the residence.

Police said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Ortega was similarly taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in police custody after being treated for cuts.
