A tragic domestic violence incident unfolded early Monday morning at a healthcare facility in Egg Harbor Township, leaving a woman dead and her estranged husband deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to information released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police were dispatched to the Excelcare Rehabilitation Facility on Delilah Road at approximately 6:00 a.m. on April 13 following reports of a shooting.
An investigation conducted by the prosecutor’s office Major Crimes Unit, alongside the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, determined that 35-year-old Brandon Alexander of Minotola fatally shot his estranged wife, 38-year-old Victoria Alexander.
Authorities said the suspect had been waiting in the facility’s parking lot for the victim, who worked there as a nurse.
When she arrived, he allegedly used his vehicle to block hers in before entering her car, where he left two suicide notes on the dashboard.
At some point, a delivery driver approached and asked him to move his vehicle.
Investigators say that interaction gave Victoria Alexander an opportunity to escape her car and run inside the building.
However, Brandon Alexander followed her into the facility and opened fire, striking her multiple times.
Victoria Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect then shot himself and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Division, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
