Update: Man Injured by Gunfire Outside Elizabeth Business

A 43-year-old city man was injured by gunfire as he left Crown Fried Chicken in Elizabeth Sunday.

Police responded to the Crown Fried Chicken, located at 1213 Magnolia Avenue, shortly before 4 a.m., for a report of shots fired and with a man down.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 43-year-old Elizabeth resident, who stated that he was at Crown Fried Chicken buying some food, when he observed a large fight in the parking lot between 4 to 5 males.

As he left, heard a gunshot and felt a pain in his right leg.

Elizabeth Fire Dept. E.M.S. responded to the scene along with paramedics from Trinitas Hospital. The victim was treated and transported to University in Newark.

Detectives from the Elizabeth Police Department are investigating.
