UPDATE: Man Found Dead in Limousine in Newark’s East Ward Identified

A man found dead inside a limousine in a Newark East Ward parking lot on Sunday has been identified as a former Kearny resident.

Police were called to the teens block of Lister Avenue at approximately 12:15 p.m. where officers arrived and immediately taped off a portion of the parking lot at 15 Lister after finding the body of a man inside the vehicle that was sandwiched in between several buses, trucks and barely visible from the street.

The victim has been identified as **Mr. Anthony Joana, 44,** who had an address in Kearny according to reports.

The medical examiner arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation and were observed carrying Mr. Joana's body into a van.

The official cause of Joana's death has not been released, but the Major Crimes Units stayed on the scene for several hours conducting the investigation.

The State Regional Medical Examiners Office will make the final determination of what caused his death. Police are not reporting foul play at this time.

The viewing is at 8:30AM-9:30 a.m. at Shaw-Buyus Funeral Home 138 Davis Ave in Kearny and The Mass is at 10 a.m. at St Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church 120 Kearny Avenue.

Officials say Mr. Joanan will be buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
