Authorities in Newark has confirmed that a man who jumped from the I-78 bridge in Newark has died overnight.
According to NJ State Police, the incident happened at approximately 7:47 p.m., the unidentified man jumped from the Osborne Terrace bridge in Newark’s South Ward onto I-78 eastbound express lanes.
Police say the man serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital where he died at approximately 10:40 p.m.
Police closed I-78 eastbound express lanes at mile marker 55.6.
Traffic was diverted to the local lanes.
Police are continuing to investigate.
