An early Saturday morning shooting that had a man suffer multiple gunshot wounds in a Newark neighborhood now has The Essex County Prosecutor's Office investigating a homicide.
The shooting happened at around midnight in the vicinity of Brenner and South 10th streets sending police to the scene where they canvassed the area located a 27-year-old male victim struck several times by bullets.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on Sunday.
Police taped the area where they searched the area for a crime scene and other evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
