UPDATE: Man Charged with Stabbing his Mother, Father to Death in Englewood

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Mr. Pawel M. Boduch, 43, of Lafayette Place, Englewood, on charges of Murder and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

In a press release, authorities said the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor=s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Lawrence Suffern.

Authorities say on Saturday, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that two individuals were found deceased inside a Lafayette Place home. The decedents were subsequently identified as the home’s residents; Edward Boduch, 71 years old, and his wife, Miroslawa Potocka, 72-years-old.

Both were victims of homicide and each suffered multiple apparent stab wounds. The third occupant of the residence, their son Pawel M. Boduch, was not home at the time police discovered the bodies authorities said.

Officials say at approximately 10:52 a.m., the Englewood Police Department responded to 113 Lafayette Place for a welfare check at the request of a family member who was unable to reach the couple for multiple days.

Upon entering the home, both victims were found deceased with multiple apparent stab wounds.

Officials say Boduch was located by detectives later in the day.

As a result of the investigation, Pawel M. Boduch was arrested and charged with two counts of Murder, and one count of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose,

Pawel M. Boduch is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing in Hackensack, NJ on February 17, 2019, at 1:30 p.m.

Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
