Authorities in Essex County are looking into a deadly shooting in Newark's Central Ward Saturday.
It happed around midnight in the 300 block of New Street near Norfolk Street.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired. When they arrived at the scene, they found an unconscious and unresponsive male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said one other person was struck by gunfire during what they believe was a fight involving females. The circumstances behind the altercation have not been reported.
The victim, Mr. Tameel Grimes, 31, of Newark, was pronounced dead.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has released no immediate arrests.
