UPDATE: Man Arrested for Shooting Dog in Haskell

Passaic County officials announced that based on an investigation by the Wanaque Police Department, Mr. Tristan E. Owens, 22, of Haskell was arrested on July 20 in relation to an animal cruelty incident that took place July 18 in the area of DuPont and Makemoney Avenues in Haskell.

According to a statement released by Passaic County officials, at approximately 10:02 p.m. members of the Wanaque Police Department were dispatched to the area of DuPont and Makemoney Avenues on a report of a dog injured by fireworks.

Police say the dog was transported to the Westwood Regional Veterinary Hospital in Westwood where it was determined that the dog sustained injuries by a small caliber bullet.

Police say Tristan E. Owens is charged with Animal Cruelty-Recklessly Causing Injury, Third Degree.

Police said Mr. Owens was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear at Central Judicial Processing (CJP Court) on August 7.
