A 47-year-old man died after losing consciousness while swimming at the local community pool yesterday.
Police were called to the Cranford Pool and Fitness Center on Centennial Avenue at approximately 6:03 p.m. for an incident at the pool.
Upon arrival officers found staff members attempting to revive the man after staff members pulled the distressed man out of the pool.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Rahway where he was pronounced dead.
The incident remain under investigation, however at this time incident is being treated as a medical emergency.
According to police, a lifeguard was on duty at the time of the incident.
The victim's identity is being withheld until next of kin is contacted.
