UPDATE: Male Left Paralyzed Following Double Shooting in Elizabeth

One of two males injured by gunfire on Monday night in Elizabeth has been left paralyzed from the chest down.

According to authorities, police responded to 1000 block of Bond Street sometime around 8 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the neck at that location.

Officials say the victim was transported to University Hospital, where medical officials say he suffered spinal cord damage that paralyzed him from the chest down.

As officers secured the scene, Trinitas Hospital officials advised police that a male suffering from a bullet wound to the hand had been dropped off at the emergency department.

Authorities say the second victim was ultimately transferred to Jersey City to see a hand specialist.

Police are looking for a dark-colored vehicle that reportedly sped away from the scene.
