Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a man Wednesday evening in Newark, officials said.
Gunfire was reported just before 7:20 p.m. in the area of 580 Bergen Street. Police were dispatched to the scene to investigate reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was treated at the scene but was later pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the area and remains at large.
The shooting remains under an active and ongoing investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
