UPDATE: Mahwah Man Used Kitchen Knife to Stab his Wife to Death Police say

Bergen County officials announced the arrest of Mr. Dieter R. Zimmermann, 73,  of Mahwah on charges of Murder, Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

According to The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, on Tuesday, January 12,  at approximately 7:45 a.m., the Mahwah Police Department received a 911 call reporting a domestic violence incident at 27 Indian Field Court.

Upon arrival at the residence, police officers found the suspect Zimmermann with several scratches and a bleeding cut on a finger.

Officers said they later located his wife, Jaquelin Zimmermann, 69, dead on the floor in an upstairs bathroom adjacent to the master bedroom.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Mahwah Police Department revealed that Zimmermann murdered his wife using a kitchen knife.

Police Zimmermann was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, among other charges.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
