Hudson County authorities are investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Friday morning in Kearny, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

According to preliminary information released by officials, emergency responders were called to the area 850 Newark-Jersey City Turnpike near the post office at approximately 3:55 a.m. after reports of a serious collision involving multiple vehicles.
When first responders arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene where one vehicle had erupted into flames.
Officials said as many as seven individuals were transported to local hospitals.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene, and at least one other victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
The exact cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kearny Police have asked commuters to avoid the area near Walmart as the scene remains closed for investigative purposes.
