The quiet of a fall evening in New Brunswick was shattered when gunfire rang out near the Rutgers New Brunswick campus at Pine Street Park on October 8.
Police rushed to the scene around 11:30 p.m. after reports of an unconscious man, only to discover a young life cut short.

According to information released by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, officers found 18-year-old Mr. Fernando Buezo Diaz of New Brunswick suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that a fight had broken out in the park before the shooting occurred.
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified 20-year-old Mr. Jalen Terrell-Ingram of New Brunswick as being in possession of a firearm that night.
On October 10, prosecutors approved multiple charges against Terrell-Ingram, including first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
He surrendered to the New Brunswick Police Department on October 13.
Days later, on October 15, authorities also took a 17-year-old male from North Brunswick into custody.
The teen faces charges of juvenile delinquency for offenses that, if committed by an adult, would amount to murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons violations.
Officials said the investigation remains active.
Anyone with information or surveillance footage related to the incident is urged to contact Detective Victor Delgado of the New Brunswick Police Department at 732-745-5200.
