Authorities in Essex County are investigating the motive behind a shooting that killed a man in Newark’s West Ward Wednesday evening.
According to officials, at approximately 7 p.m., police responded to several calls reporting shots fired near the Bradley Court Housing Projects.
Upon arrival, police immediately taped off the intersection of Munn Avenue and South Orange Avenue when they found Mr. Kyle Eley, 50, suffering multiple bullet wounds to several parts of his body.
Officials say Eley was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead just before 7:30 p.m.
Officers checked in and around Bradley Court, Vailsburg Park, and a nearby elementary school for possible suspects ad other victims. Mr. Eley was the only person shot.
No arrests have been reported.
