Authorities announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Kawiiy D. Banks, 26, of Irvington.
According to authorities, Banks was shot around 11:32 pm yesterday in the area of South 6th Street and 11th Avenue in Newark.
Officials say he was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. today.
According to authorities, no suspects have been identified.
The investigation is active and ongoing. .
