UPDATE: Gunman Fired Nearly a Dozen Rounds in Fatal Montclair Shooting


The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a shooting that killed a man in Montclair overnight. 

Montclair Police responded to nearly a dozen rounds of gunfire that rang out in the 100 block of Lincoln Street around 2:30 a.m. today. 

Units arrived and found a male victim suffering over a half dozen bullet wounds on parts of his body. 

Friends identified the victim as Mr. Leroy Peters, 23, who was pronounced dead around 3:25 a.m. at University Hospital in Newark. 

The motive for the shooting is under investigation. 

No arrests have been reported.
