Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at approximately 1:33 a.m., police officers responded to the area of 207 12th Avenue in the City of Paterson in response to a report of shots fired.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the crime scene however the victim. Shakeem Ricks, 25 years old from Paterson, had already been transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson in a personal vehicle.
Police say Mr. Ricks had suffered apparent gunshot wounds, and he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
This investigation is active and ongoing.
