UPDATE: Gunfire Kills Man in Newark’s South Ward

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, III have announced that authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Newark last night.

Authorities say at approximately 10:35 p.m., Newark police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Hobson Street on reports of shots fired.

According to police arriving police officers observed an unresponsive male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The male, who has been identified as Tylier R. Moore, 29, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.

This incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
