UPDATE: Fugitive Wanted for Shooting Bergen County Woman Killed After Shootout with Police in Morris County

By: Richard L. Smith

SWAT officers in Morris County killed a man who they believe was wanted for shooting a woman multiple times in Elmwood Park last week.

A preliminary investigation revealed that police corned Mr. James Allandale, 61,  at the Knights Inn Pine Brook on Route 46 just before midnight.

Allandale went on the run on the night of December 27th after allegedly shooting a 63-year-old New Milford Woman at a home in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue in Elmwood Park.

Police involved

The woman, identified by media sources as Ms. Cynthia Greco, was found at the 7-Eleven on Broadway suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

EMS transported her to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition, according to Bergen County officials. Authorities would only say that Greco was friends with Alladale's girlfriend, who owned the house where the shooting occurred.

Circumstances on what prompted the shooting are under an active investigation.

A massive person search for Allandale, which included Bergen County SWAT forcing entry into his home, ended with his vehicle being found in Paterson later that evening.

Authorities have not released what led them to the hotel to search for Allandale, but during the violent encounter, gunshots were reportedly exchanged, leaving Allandale dead at the scene.

The NJ State Attorney General's Office has been notified of the fatal police-involved shooting, but no official comment has been released as of 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
