UPDATE: Fight Over Cell Phone Ends in Deadly New Brunswick Stabbing

Middlesex County authorities reported  today that police responded to reports of a stabbing in the area of Delavan Street and Jersey Avenue.

According to officials, today, at approximately 3:35 a.m. , when the police arrived on scene they found the victim, Rogelio Lopez-Lopez, 55, with multiple stab wounds.

Police said Lopez-Lopez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

As a result of the investigation conducted by Detective Walter Kelley of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Keith Walcott of the New Brunswick Police Department it does not appear that this was a random act of violence.

The suspect, who has been identified by an eyewitness, as Mr. Adan Santiago-Feria knew the victim Lopez-Lopez and stabbed him over a fight regarding a stolen phone.

Santiago-Feria was charged on a warrant for first-degree murder, third- degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree terroristic threats.

The investigation is ongoing.

Santiago-Feria has fled and is at large.
