UPDATE: Fatal Middlesex County Stabbing Under Investigation

A man was stabbed to death in the city of New Brunswick, and the matter is currently under investigation, according to Middlesex police officials. 

Authorities said today, September 12, at approximately 6:29 A.M., they responded to the area of Throop Avenue and Townsend Street following the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located Barry James, 36, of Edison, who sustained multiple stab wounds. James succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

An investigation led by Middlesex police identified Rahmaad Howard, 34, of New Brunswick as the perpetrator, and this was not a random act of violence; Howard knew the victim. 

On September 12, Howard was arrested in New Brunswick and has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
