UPDATE: Fairfiled Man Dies in I-80 Car Crash in Woodland Park

A deadly wrong-way car crash that occurred on I-80 in Woodland Park claimed the life of a Fairfield man overnight.

Authorities say at approximately 4:38 a.m., on Sunday, New Jersey State Police responded to Route 80 Eastbound, in the area adjacent to Exit 56A in the Borough of Woodland Park, in response to a head-on motor vehicle crash.

According to authorities, the driver of a Honda CRV, later identified as Rocco Donatiello, 29, of Fairfield was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.

The investigation, being conducted by the New Jersey State Police, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office remains active and ongoing.
