UPDATE: Essex Prosecutor Charge Woman for Endangering Eight-Year-Old Newark West Ward Girl Who Went Missing

Newark– Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that Rochelle Baskins, 51, of Newark has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of an eight-year-old girl.

Authorities said on Sunday, the child was initially reported missing around 9:45 a.m. from the Bradley Court Housing Community.

A search was launched by the Newark Police Division and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Later that night, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the eight-year-old girl was found at Penn Station with Baskins by concerned citizens, then transported to an area hospital for a routine examination.

The investigation is active and ongoing.

These are allegations.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
