UPDATE: Edison Police Pursuit Kills Plainfield Man

Edison Plainfield

A fatal collision that followed an Edison Police Department officer’s pursuit of a vehicle into Plainfield early Wednesday morning is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Thomas K. Isenhour announced today.

Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Mr. Dem-Quan Royal of Plainfield.

Authorities said after midnight on Wednesday, Plainfield Police Division patrol units were called to the 800 block of Woodland Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

The body of Royal was found at that location, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, Union County Police Department Fatal Accident Reconstruction Unit, and Plainfield Police Division revealed that Royal’s car struck a tree, killing him.

Anyone with information about this incident is being asked to contact Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Jose Vendas at 908-358-3048.
