NEWARK – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Acting East Orange Public Safety Director Domingos Saldida announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force along with the East Orange Police Department are investigating the fatal shooting of Shawn Watford, 31, of East Orange.
Authorities said, on Monday, Watford was shot in the area of North Arlington Avenue and Williams Street.
EMS transported him to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead at 1:49 pm.
No arrests have been made.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
