UPDATE: Driver in Route 46 Crash in Mount Olive Dies

Morris County authorities confirmed that the driver involved in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Mount Olive on October 23, has succumbed to his injuries and died.

According to authorities, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on October 23, members of the Mount Olive Police Department were dispatched to the area of Route 46 and Joy Drive on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

A further investigation revealed that the driver of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata lost control of the vehicle while driving on Route 46 East, causing a head-on collision with a BMW traveling in the westbound lanes.

A Subaru that was traveling eastbound was also involved in the collision.

The driver and four passengers of the Sonata were transported to Morristown Medical Center for medical treatment.

The driver succumbed to his injuries on November 1.

There were no injuries reported to the occupants of the Subaru.

Authorities said the incident was investigated by the Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, with the assistance of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.

No criminal charges are expected at this time and the identities of the individuals involved will not be released.
