UPDATE: Driver of Disabled Car Killed on NJ Turnpike in Edison

NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that caused fatal injuries to a motorist on the NJ Turnpike in Edison on Saturday morning.

According to State Police Spokesman Trooper Goez, the incident happened at approximately 3:19 a.m. in the southbound inner roadway near exit 86.6

Trooper Goez said a Lexus IS 360 was stopped on the side of the roadway after being involved in a previous collision when a Ford ECV Van crashed into the passenger side of the car.

According to police, the Lexus then jerked forward and struck the 26-year-old driver who was standing near the car.

Trooper Goez said the collision caused fatal injuries to the victim.

Trooper Goez said the victim was not a NJ resident and they are waiting for next of kin to be notified before releasing his identity.
