UPDATE: Dover Man Charged in Fatal Rt. 46 Crash

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Public Safety Director Daniel DeGroot of the Dover Police Department announce the arrest of Javier Santos Archaga, 36, of Dover, on charges stemming from a motor vehicle crash that occurred during the early morning hours of September 24th.

According to police, Santos Archaga was the driver of a motor vehicle involved in a single vehicle crash that occurred in the area of Route 15 and Route 46 in Dover.

The subsequent investigation revealed that in addition to Santos Archaga, there were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

One of the passengers has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The remaining passengers sustained varying degrees of injury.

Santos Archaga has been charged with one count of Death by Auto, a crime of the second degree, one count of Assault by Auto, a crime of the third degree, and two counts of Assault by Auto, crimes of the fourth degree.

Santos Archaga was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending his First Appearance, which will be scheduled for Monday, September 25th.

Members of the Dover Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Section contributed to this investigation.

The complaints against Santos Archaga are merely accusations. Despite these accusations, this Defendant is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
