According to a statement released by NJ State Police, the crash occurred at 2:41 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Clark.
Officials said in, the area of milepost 136.3, a Range Rover and a Lexus were involved in a violent collision.
According to NJ State Police, the driver of the Range Rover was transported to University Hospital in Newark in severe condition and the driver of the Lexus was pronounced dead at Rahway Hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the identities of the victim have not been released at this time.
