An early morning crash sent police and firefighters to the scene of a serious crash that knocked down a utility pole.
Police were called to the area of Routes 1 and 9 and Maple Avenue sometime around 5 a.m. for a report of a crash.
Responding officers arrived to a crash that split both the vehicle and the pole.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital with a broken leg.
Following the crash, a truck hit the wires, knocking the pole down on the northbound lanes, officials said.
The damaged utility poles caused lane closures as well as power outages in the area.
